Please have a telephone number ready for the Communications Assistant (CA) / Video Interpreter (VI) in advance prior to connecting. This would help process your call smoothly and efficiently. After connecting, provide the name of the Federal Agency you are calling to or from. If you wish to have a specific gender for your CA / VI, please make that request when the call is connected.

Voice users should speak clearly and moderately. Please direct your conversation to the party you are calling as if the CA / VI was absent from the conversation.

CAs and VIs are to remain transparent throughout the duration of the conversation. They are to relay / interpret the conversation including background noises such as a telephone ringing, noises, et cetera.
